Frequently Asked Questions
I have a fireplace, I want to update its' look. What now?
Call us for a free-in home estimate! Don't have time to meet with someone? Email or mail us a picture of your existing fireplace, and a picture or idea of what you'd like it to look like. We can give you an estimate via phone or email!
What is involved with refacing my fireplace? How long will it take?
Depending on what you have, usually your fireplace can be completley refaced in about two weeks. However, our workers only need 3-5 days inside your house to complete the work. For example, if you have a brick facing around your fireplace now --- we come in, remove and haul away your old face. Then another day to patch up the walls around your old facing that would be exposed after laying the new surround (i.e. travertine or marble tile squares and a mantel.) Then we dissappear for a bit to build your new custom mantel. When your mantel is ready for installation, we'll come back and install your mantel! All done!
What if I have a fireplace surround that isn't symetrical? (i.e. facing is bigger on one side)
This doesn't really affect your refacing. We can remove your old facing and rebuild it to be symetrical and beautiful.
I have a masonry/brick fireplace and it has cracks or is broken. What can I do?
If your house is an older house, and the chimney or firebox has cracks - most likely you'll need to rebuild it. California codes have changed alot since the Ridgecrest earthquake. If you'd like to rebuild your fireplace back to look as the original, it will be built with cinder blocks on the inside and 'faced' with either veneer brick or real brick to duplicate the original look of your house.
The inside of my fireplace is charred, gray and ugly. What can I do?
While we're refacing your fireplace, we can renew the look of your firebox. This is called 'black-out'. We can paint the inside of your fireplace to make it look new and fresh!
I have a corner or 'L'-shaped fireplace, can you help?
YES, you have many options with an L-shaped fireplace. Install new rock or brick, add a custom mantel or mantel cap and wa-la!
My fireplace is located in-between two windows, or is in a confined space. Can you help?
YES! This problem can be addressed by designing the face with the confined spaces in mind. With over 25 years experience, we know how to design a surround that not only fits the space, but compliments your fireplace in the best possible way.
